General
What does Wemo automation do?
Wemo is a leading automation solutions provider with particular expertise in linear robotic systems and advanced automation for the injection molding industry. We offer a broad product portfolio ranging from simple pick-and-place systems to customized, complex solutions integrating robots, conveyors and peripherals. Our products are designed to meet high standards of productivity, quality and durability.
Wemo's robots and automation solutions are mainly used in the plastics industry, where we offer efficient handling in connection with injection molding, IML and further processing of plastic parts. But our solutions also extend to several other industries with a need for automated material handling. In the automotive industry, our robots are used for the production of plastic components for interiors and exteriors. In medical technology, we handle sterile products and components, often in cleanroom environments. The packaging industry benefits from our technology to automate the handling of thin, dimensionally stable plastic packaging, while the electronics industry uses our systems for precision plastic parts. We also provide solutions for logistics flows and production management in other industries. Thanks to our flexible robotic technology, we can customize each solution to the specific needs of the customer, whatever the industry.
Wemo's robots are developed, manufactured and packed on site in the factory in Värnamo, Sweden. The products are developed by skilled engineers and assembled by our skilled assemblers.
What are the possibilities for customizing a Wemo robot?
Economics and imagination are the only limits to what you can do. We can customize a Wemorobot for almost any application. That's one of our strengths.
What type of robot is best suited for my production?
It depends on several factors - including cycle time, part weight and size, available space and the degree of automation you need. Our sales and application engineers will be happy to help you choose the right robot series based on your injection molding, production flow and future needs.
How do I choose the right gripper solution for my application?
The choice of gripper depends on the geometry of the part, its material, weight and how it will be handled (picked, assembled, stacked, etc.). We offer both standard and customized grippers that can be combined with vacuum, gripper claws or rotary units. Our engineers will help you find the right solution for your application - with a focus on precision, reliability and cycle time.
The delivery time for a standard robot is usually between 5-12 weeks. If you have ordered a specially designed automation, it may vary depending on the scope of the project.
To enable you to use your Wemo solution in an optimal way. Our trainings will give you a clear understanding of the system's features and show you that programming a Wemo robot is both logical and accessible - even for beginners.
We want to give you the knowledge and confidence to use your equipment to its full potential. After completing the course, you should be able to create your own programs from scratch, make adjustments to the logic and manage your automation with precision and confidence.
Training with us gives you both practical and theoretical skills - regardless of previous experience. Our courses are structured to provide maximum benefit and are led by instructors with solid knowledge and experience from real production environments. Here we combine technology, pedagogy and business benefits.
We offer training at several levels to meet different needs and roles in automation. The operator training focuses on daily operation and safe handling of the robot. For those who are new to programming, there is our basic course, where you learn to create and adjust simple programs. For more experienced users, we offer an advanced course, Step 2, with a focus on logical flows and advanced functions. We also offer customized training, where the content is tailored to your robot solution, production environment and technical requirements. The goal is for each participant to feel confident and independent in their work with the Wemo system.
You will be supported by experienced instructors, have access to modern tools and train in realistic scenarios. Through practical exercises and direct application, you will gain skills that can be used in your production the very next day.
The training gives you a solid foundation to build on - both to streamline today's processes and meet tomorrow's automation challenges.
The installation of a Wemo robot is always carried out by one of our experienced service technicians to ensure that everything works correctly from the start. After installation and a review of the system, simple programming and adjustments can often be done by the customer themselves - especially after completing training with us. Our goal is for you to quickly feel confident with both the equipment and the control system.
Can I program the robot myself, or do I need help from a technician?
Our basic programming should be manageable after completing a training at Wemo. After that, it places some demands on the individual's own programming skills and experience, and that's when it's common for our service department to assist.
How does OPC UA work and can it be used with Wemo’s robots?
OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture) is a global standard for secure and platform-independent communication between industrial devices. Wemo’s robots are equipped with OPC UA, which enables easy integration into existing networks and automation solutions without the need for special adaptations. This provides standardized data communication, increased flexibility, and high security through encrypted data transfer. Activation of OPC UA in Wemo’s system is done smoothly via an interface module, where the IP address can be set directly on the operator panel, eliminating the need for an on-site service technician.
What should I do if my robot stops or triggers an alarm?
If your Wemo robot stops or generates an alarm, start by reading the alarm message on the operator panel and noting the error code. Then try to reset the alarm according to the instructions in the manual. Check if there are any physical obstructions that may affect the robot’s movements or gripper. If the problem persists, contact Wemo support. Have the robot’s serial number and a clear description of the issue ready. In case of mechanical damage, it’s helpful to take photos and email them before calling, so we can assist you more efficiently.
To help you as quickly and efficiently as possible, it’s best to have the robot’s serial number ready when you contact us. In case of mechanical damage or alarms, we recommend sending a brief description of the issue along with photos via email, and then calling to discuss the solution. If possible, stand by the robot when calling, so you can easily provide information and follow our technicians’ instructions in real time. If you have access to Wemo Connect 4.0, you can also share live data directly with our support, which further facilitates troubleshooting. You can reach us via phone, email, or remote support. Contact details are always available on our website.
Where can I find manuals and documentation for my Wemo robot?
Manuals and technical documentation for your Wemo robot are always available via Wemo Connect, which is included with the purchase of the robot. There you’ll find all relevant information gathered in one place – from electrical and pneumatic diagrams to installation and user manuals. The documentation is accessible 24/7 and is guaranteed for all systems delivered from a certain date (contact us for more information).
In addition to this, physical manuals are included upon delivery, and downloadable documents can also be found on our website, as well as some documentation in the Wemo Webshop. Need help finding the right documents for your specific robot model? Our support team is always available to assist you.
Please note that access to extended real-time data via Wemo Connect requires a separate subscription.
Yes, Wemo offers remote support and diagnostics via WRS and digital tools like Wemo Connect 4.0. Our technicians can connect to your robot to troubleshoot in real time, identify any issues, and, if necessary, make programming adjustments to optimize performance. We can also assist with software updates to ensure your equipment is always up to date with the latest functionality. Contact our support team and we’ll help you activate remote support and get the most out of your digital Wemo tools.
To ensure optimal performance and a long service life, we recommend that your Wemo robot is serviced annually by a certified Wemo technician. In daily operations, it’s important to check that all functions and safety systems are working correctly, and to follow the manual’s guidelines for lubrication and adjustments. By scheduling service in advance, you reduce the risk of unexpected downtime and can keep production running without interruptions. In more demanding environments or under heavy use, shorter service intervals may be necessary. Feel free to contact our support for advice on what best suits your facility.
For robots included in the current product range, you can receive parts as early as the next day. For custom components, delivery can take up to 3–4 weeks.
